NEW YORK CITY -- More than 180,000 square feet was leased in W&H Properties' nine Pre-War Trophy office buildings during the second quarter of the year, announces Fred C. Posniak of W&H.
Approximately 120,000 square feet consisted of new leases at the properties, which are the Empire State Building, 112 West 34th Street, 501 Seventh Avenue, 1333 Broadway, 1350 Broadway, 1359 Broadway, 1400 Broadway, 60 East 42nd Street, and 250 West 57th Street.
"Even more important than the numbers is the quality of tenants that are moving to or expanding within the buildings," says Mr. Posniak, who cites as examples Ellen Tracy's leasing of the entire 32nd and 33rd floors at 1400 Broadway, Skanska's full-floor lease at the Empire State Building, Federal Knitwork's expansion at 1400 Broadway, and Open Space Institute's expansion at 1350 Broadway. He also notes that just after the second quarter ended, Coty, one of the world's major fragrance companies, signed a lease for nearly 90,000 square feet at the Empire State Building.
"It's not just our $1.5 billion capital improvement program that's attracting these firms," notes Mr. Posniak. "It's also W&H's reputation for delivering on promises. Our tenants and their brokers know to expect Class-A services and amenities at all W&H buildings, and that's what we'll continue to provide."
He adds, "For this reason, we're seeing constant growth of both broker activity and tenant deals within the portfolio, with no slowdown in sight."
